Let’s talk work. For a designer, or a content writer or a content strategist, anyone. Here’s a small question for you, how often did you have to trash a complete design or a complete copy, or a creative idea?
Well I can say quite a lot! Because one’s creative view is never the same as another’s right? An idea one may like, might not strike another person at all… The point is… never discard an idea or content or design just because it is rejected once. Only you, the creator, know the inspiration and brainstorming behind an idea. One idea has the power and potential to inspire another idea!
In simple words, imagine this:
As a creative strategist you’ve come up with an interesting reel idea for your brand. In your mind you see how the reel could relate to the brand and capture the target audience.
Or if you are a content writer, and you’ve written a creative line, with an interesting viewpoint.
Or say you’ve designed a poster for a brand with new interesting elements you thought would add attention value to the poster.
Now say you ask your colleague or friend or your boss’s opinion, and they say that it’s a bad idea, and that you should probably let this go. If you immediately discard it, that’s a lost opportunity. It would just lie there in the trash, forgotten. On the other hand, say you put it in a folder aside. Later after a few days or after a few weeks, when you just take a look at it, a new idea might root up in your head inspired by this one! Or, by then, your knowledge and perspective might have evolved, giving you an improved vision. That means you would be able to modify this “discarded” idea into a brand new one by adding on elements with your newfound perspective!
See what I’m getting at? The same old ideas can fuel new ones, or they can be modified with newly gained perspectives of yours! This way, you’ll be “recycling” your ideas into new results! Now go ahead! Keep your mind open and get inspired! Remember that anything can inspire a thought and an idea! So you can create treasure from trash! All the best!
