Often my mind used to be occupied by thoughts like “I am not good enough.” “I’m not giving my best.” “Maybe I’m not right for this role” “Maybe I’m not good for anything” and stuff like this. I do get compliments and appreciations for works of mine, but my mind was just not able to accept that I’m good at something. I was constantly in a fear that I would be exposed as a failure or wrong again, or even worse. 😥

Did you know that this feeling had a name? Well apparently it’s called the “Imposter syndrome”. It’s like maybe all the things we succeed in are just pure luck and that people are mistakenly thinking that we are good at something. So we think we are fake or that we may be exposed to be faking our achievements or strengths.

Imposter syndrome is the doubt in one’s abilities despite success. Those affected often dismiss compliments, overwork out of fear, and question their own competence and potential.

But how do we solve this? Let’s learn how to overcome this together!

  • Positive affirmations: Recognize whenever you start telling yourself off when you achieve something. Give yourself positive affirmations.
  • Appreciate yourself: Learn to give yourself appreciation for every little achievement. No matter what the result, your efforts really really matter.
  • Treat yourself with kindness: Put others’ opinions aside, it’s important that YOU treat yourself with kindness! YOU need to realize your own value. If not you, who else can right?
  • Focus on growth over perfection: If you’ve made a few mistakes, it’s alright! Don’t stress over it. Just learn to not repeat it next time. But don’t be harsh on yourself, overworking on it to get “the perfect result”.
  • Talk it out: Sharing your experiences with your friends or family, it’s completely okay to take help!
  • Learn to say no: Don’t overwhelm yourself with extra work when you already have a lot on your plate! It is okay to say no!

Sometimes we’re just confused and don’t even have a dream or goal. We tend to degrade ourselves on this point too, right?

It’s completely okay to not have a goal. Instead we can focus on the now and set a few short goals. Everytime we reach a goal, let’s not forget to appreciate ourselves!

When we observe ourselves and our personal likings, we might find an ambition in ourselves, and things we actually want to achieve!

It’s never too late to find what you want and work for it! Just saying…🤷‍♀️

Remember, you’re not alone. Nobody’s perfect. Avoid overworking yourself. Genuinely appreciate your efforts and achievements. This will be the key to your progress.

All the best! I’ll work on it too!
